This site is for lovers of 80's thru 90's Chicago house/dance music/househeads/djs,and for those who grew up listening to The Legendary Chicago Radio Station 102.7FM WBMX and the HotMix5.

All are welcome to view/comment/embed my playlists/videos and mixes. Send me a shout out or invite.

About Me: Chicago became the staple of my life growing up. The best days of my youth were during the era of breakdancing and house music. I grew up on the northwest sides of Chicago around Logan Square and Humboldt Park areas after migrating from Brooklyn, NY in the 70's. I was turned on to house music back in 1983 when I went to Jenal's Disco on Fullerton & Pulaski. On that night Dj Kenny "Jammin" Jason from the HotMix 5 was mixing and singer Shannon was singing "Let The Music Play". From thereon dj'ing became something that I wanted to pursue and I am currently re-training myself in the art of Dj'ing once again because I never lost the passion for it nor the love of the music. It is a hobby for me as well as a way to make money and to provide good entertainment for those who love good music. We need to keep this vibe alive and this is one of those avenues whereby we can bring it.

I started learning/dj'ing for a short period of time with my cousin (George "Cookin" Aquino) who was a well known Dj from a crew called Logan Square Dj Spinners/Tropical Dance Promotions.
We did house parties, weddings, cotillions, sweet 16s,Tanya's Banquets on Milwaukee,Orthodox Hall on Kedzie,Centrum Hall,St. Sylvestre's,Carl Schurz High School,Darwin Elementary,Palm Gardens Sport Lounge on Armitage and many private parties/venues.
I was also on the B-Boy scene in crew called the "Chicago Streetmasters" and in a graffiti crew called "U.P.S United Painting System". I lived just across the street from the famous Ralphie "Rockin" Rosario and would often hear him practising on the turntables. I also went to Nobel School with (r.i.p.) Dj Jesse Velez (Girls Out On The Floor Just Move That Culito)

I used to love cruising down the avenues like Fullerton and Milwaukee,26th st,18th st,Rush and Division,Lakeshore Dr.,Oak Street Beach,North Ave Beach,Addison Rocks,Irving Park and Montrose Beaches,Hollywood Beach, and the Sheridan Road Cruise. Bel-Air Drive-in on Cicero.

My path to becoming a full fledged dj ended when I made some mistakes from hanging with the wrong crowds back in 1990 but I have been back since 1993 and life, family, friends, and freedom are the most important things to cherish and should not be taken for granted. I wish to give Sal Amato, Dj Kenny "Jammin" Jason and all friends/contributors thanks for putting this together. Long live WBMX and Chicago House Music.

10 Things Not To Say To A Dj

1. PLAY SOMETHING GOOD...SOMETHING WE CAN DANCE TO !
The DJ has to play for more than one person...so what you hate may be another's favorite song and EVERYTHING played here can be danced to one way or another.

2. WOULD YOU PLAY SOMETHING WITH A "BEAT" !
BE SERIOUS! We know of NO songs played in a club that don't have some sort of BEAT!

3. I DON'T KNOW WHO SINGS IT AND I DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG, BUT IT GOES LIKE THIS....
PLEASE don't sing for the DJ. They have to put up with smoke fill… Continue

Keys To Success

Keys to Success
1. Never walk down the hall without a document in your hands. People with documents in their hands look like hardworking employees heading for important meetings. People with nothing in their hands look like they're heading for the cafeteria. People with the newspaper in their hands look like they're heading for the bathroom. Above all, make sure you carry loads of stuff home with you at night, thus generating the false impression that you work longer hours than you do.

How To Tell If You're A True Mexican

If you can fit four riders on the bench seat of a pickup, while in the back twelve are standing up. You are a Mexican.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can run, ride a llegua, play futbol in chanclas, you've got to be Mexican.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your late tio left you a van and you turned it into a taco vending business, you are a Mexican bro.

Save the attachment I sent to your C drive (just loose in your Cdrive).
Go to your Control Panel and click on Fonts. Once that opens, go to the the File menu and choose Install New Fonts.
When that window opens, choose your C drive and you should see the font called Old School. Click on it and and choose install. That should do it. Now you can open up any of your writing programs and choose that font and you should be all set. If that doesn't work, then here are the logos. Keep in mind that they're backwards so that when you print on the transfer paper and iron onto your shirt, they'll come out facing the right way. You can get the transfer paper at OfficeMax or Staples.
